Government institutions

The National Agency of Investigation and Innovation works in four action fields: Research, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Education. Education: By means of the National Scholarships System, ANII encourages postgraduate studies by providing grants for Masters, PhDs, and Post-Docs, as well as mobility and training grants.

ANII also develop Timbó, a free access website for educational and scientific institutions of Uruguay.

Uruguay is the 1st country in implementing the One Laptop Per Child model nationwide, thanks to Plan Ceibal.

Every student in the public school system is given a laptop or tablet with contents such as Math Platfrom, an LMS, a Digital Library and learning games. Schools are provided with internet and initiatives like English Teaching via videocnonference, Robotics and Programming Labs. 

Main objetive in her participarion in Nafsa: finding new apps to include to our initiavite and possible collaborations in Research and Language Teaching.

Smart Talent´s mission is to strengthen links between technical or university students and institutions, and international oriented services companies based in Uruguay.

www.smarttalent.uy is an initiative of Uruguay XXI, the government investment and export promotion agency. 

The purpose of her participation in Nafsa was to know best Universities practices in the articulation with companies, studeints & professionals, & the promotion of Uruguay as a place to study the prioritized sectors areas.

Universities

 CLAEH University is a non-profit organization founded in 1957. Its competence system involves research, high education, social intervention and technical assistance, building knowledge for action and action for knowledge. Some academic areas include: history, culture, arts and cultural heritage, development, human rights, law, health, medicine, education, TIC, international cooperation, public politics. At NAFSA they had the aim to strengthen ties with college and universities to receive foreign students and for our teachers and students to study and work abroad.

The Universidad de Montevideo was founded in 1986.  UTEC is the Technological University of Uruguay with a focus on sustainable and inclusive development, innovation, and applied research in the areas of STEM. Free and public, it was created in 2013 to close gaps of access to higher education and to contribute to Uruguay’s socio-economic development. 

UTEC is settled in the Uruguayan countryside where four types of degrees are offered in Spanish (Associates, 2 years; Technologist, 3 years; Bachelor of Science, 4 years; Engineering, 5 years) in the following areas: Logistic, Water Management, Mechatronics, Renewable Energies, IT, Food Science, Dairy Science, Dairy Production, Biomedical and Jazz. Also, all students participate in cross-curricular programs focused on acquiring 21st-century skills.

One of the most distinctive features of UTEC is its intrinsic connection to its community and the collective construction of knowledge with high quality management standards and the pursuit of academic excellence.
